LEARN THE ART OF METAL CLAY IN FINE SILVER.  WHAT IS METAL CLAY YOU ASK?

Silver metal clay is a manufactured material made using recycled silver particles, an organic plant-based binder to bind the particles together and some water. This material can be molded, shaped and textured. It is then dried (it can be left to dry naturally or put on a heated surface to dry). It is fired using a jeweler’s torch (a creme brûlée torch will do!) or in a jeweler’s kiln. The result is a piece of metal of hallmark quality.

Silver metal clay tends to be the most commonly used metal, but other metals are available. They are similar in the way they are manufactured and the method of working with them.

In this class you will learn the basics and History of Silver Metal Clay. Each participant can choose to make 3 pairs of earrings or one pair and a small pendant. A great class for beginners wanting to discover the world of Metal Clay. Tools will be provided for use with the option of purchasing the individual tools of your choice. Price includes 15 grams of Silver Clay and 10 grams of Syringe Clay plus some fire-able stones to add to pieces and Sterling Silver or Surgical Steel ear-wires to hang them. I will provide textures and designs and templates, but you are welcome to bring your own, textures can be anything including wallpaper. You can also use any shaped cookie cutters. Additional packets of clay will be for sale at class. Sign up early the class in limited to 6 people

Cost of class is $150.

Class will be held at my home Studio 170 E Hadley Rd., Amherst, MA. Apt 124
